Evacuees from crippled nuclear plant area unable to search for missing family

Many people who have been evacuated from areas near the crippled nuclear power plant in Fukushima Prefecture have been unable to search for missing family members.

Hospital worker Hiroaki Akutsu, 36, is one of them. His home is situated in the Kitakiyobashi district of Namie, which lies within the 20-kilometer evacuation zone around the Fukushima No. 1 Nuclear Power Plant. His wife and child have been missing since the March 11 earthquake and tsunami slammed into northeast Japan and crippled the plant.

"I feel as if my wife and son are getting further and further away from me. It's sad. Many other residents share the same feelings."
