Thank you, Jack: on behalf of the children of Japan

Tears streaming down his cheek, the 8-year-old said to his mother, "I still love them, but I know lots of kids in Japan would love them too and they need something to snuggle."

Last night, this little boy from Vermont decided to take action to help alleviate the suffering of children half a world away. He bravely gathered up his beloved stuffed animals to send to Japan. He also volunteered his allowance money to UNICEF to help meet the basic needs of children who have been traumatized and displaced by the earthquake and tsunami.

It is believed that at least 60 children have become orphans in the affected area.  The accurate number is still being surveyed.
Many of the schools were built at comparatively higher locations than the residential or commercial area.  Therefore, there are many children who survived but their parents unfortunately could not make it through.
Government of Japan is planning to set up a special boarding school to accept these tsunami-affected orphans aged 6-15.
